(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Western Equestrian team took part in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regional Competition on Saturday, February 28 in River Falls, Wis. The Golden Eagles finished a highly successful season with two individual riders advancing to the IHSA Semifinals.

 

Amanda Peterson (Jr, Rochester, Minn.) advanced in Open Reining and ended up in fourth place in Open Horsemanship. Mary Hurley (So, Grand Meadow, Minn.) had a solid ride and was the Reserve Champion in Advanced Horsemanship advancing her to the semifinals in that division. Mindy Nieuwboer (So, Kenneth, Minn.) made the first cut in Novice Horsemanship but was not able to make it into the top six. 

 

Both Kaitlyn Tollefsrud (Fr, Hawley, Minn.) and Becky Rhodus (So, Kansas City, Missouri) had solid rides in Intermediate Horsemanship and ended up in third and fourth place respectively. Amanda Gozel (Fr, Shoreview, Minn.) ended the day with a solid sixth place performance in Beginner Walk/Trot.

 

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Western Equestrian team finished the season as the team champion and will compete in the team competition at the IHSA Western Semifinals held in Findlay, Ohio on March 21-22. Peterson and Hurley will also compete in their individual classes on those same dates.
