“We have our work cut out for us down at the UWF Spring Fling, not necessarily in ability as I haven’t seen the other teams play, but in terms of live swings and game situations,” says Coach Bakken. “We have worked on game situations and have done some controlled scrimmages in the gym so I think we will be able to adjust to the field rather quickly. Our hitters have seen several weeks of live pitching and I think our biggest challenge will be getting our pitchers game-ready in the different climate and on dirt for the first time this season. The team has worked extremely hard this season and is looking forward to the challenge and having a successful week,” Bakken adds.

The Golden Eagles open NSIC play on March 28-29 at Augustana College and Wayne State. First-pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Sioux Falls, S.D. and noon in Wayne, Neb. UMC’s home opener is schedule for April 4-5 against Concordia-St. Paul and St. Cloud State. Those games are scheduled for 1 p.m. against CSP and noon against SCSU at the UMC Softball Field.
