Golden Eagles Garner Split With University of Mary

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team rallied from a two run deficit in game one and took a 4-3 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory over the University of Mary today in Crookston, Minn. The Marauders captured the nightcap by a 5-3 score.
Game One Recap
U-Mary opened a 2-0 lead after one inning of play before the Golden Eagles scored two runs in each of the third and fourth innings to take a 4-2 lead. The Marauders added a run in the top of the seventh but would come no closer. Steve Schroer (Fr, RHP, Coon Rapids, Minn.) was stellar on the hill throwing 6.2 innings to get the win. He scattered three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out 11 and walking four. Paul Krebs (Sr, OF/RHP, Little Falls, Minn.) recorded the final out to get the save. He also added two hits. Jake Poehler (So, OF, Coon Rapids, Minn.) added a double and two RBI. Andy Leer had three hits for the University of Mary.
Game Two Recap
The Marauders used a three run third inning to propel them to a 5-3 victory. Duane Kiyota and Ben Herauf had two hits each while Adrian Garcia added two RBI. Casey Woodside (Fr, C, Albert Lea, Minn.) had two hits and an RBI while Devin Croal (FR, IF, Coon Rapids, Minn.) added two hits. Woodside had one double while Croal had two.
The Golden Eagles now have an overall record of 5-29 and NSIC record of 3-17. The Marauders have an overall record of 6-22 and an NSIC record of 3-5. U of M, Crookston returns to action on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 when they host Concordia University-St. Paul in and NSIC series. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. each day.
