(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston Head Football Coach Shannon Stassen and his coaching staff held a youth football camp on May 26-27. The camp was held on the UMC Campus and was for boys and girls from kindergarten through sixth grade. The camp ran from 6-8 p.m. each day.

A total of 59 young athletes participated in the two-day camp, up from 37 last year. Skills covered by Coach Stassen and his staff included the fundamentals of passing, receiving, basic stances, proper footwork, offensive and defensive drills and proper tackling form. The skill session was followed by two twenty-minute halves of touch football.

"We had a tremendous turnout this year and it is great to see the youth camp continue to grow. Our ultimate goal is for the kids have fun and learn a couple things about the game of football,” says assistant coach and camp organizer Justin Schreiber. “Many of the campers play NFL Youth Football in the fall and we look forward to working with them again when the league starts on Sunday, September 13.”
