CROOKSTON, Minn. (June 13, 2007) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Office of Development & Alumni Relations completed their campaign to raise $50,000 in 50 days on June 1, 2007. The campaign was initiated by the January 2007 decision to remain in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) at the Division II level.
In all, there were more than 60 donors who were actively supportive of this one-time campaign. The University system matched funds raised by the campaign with a total of $100,000 that will go to the UMC Athletic Program. The funds will be used to advance Golden Eagle programs, scholarships and operations as needed. These funds will be overseen by UMC Director of Athletics Stephanie Helgeson, who will determine where financial needs are greatest.
“We are excited about this opportunity to support Golden Eagle athletics with this successful fundraising campaign in support of the decision to stay Division II,” said Director of Development Corby Kemmer. "My sincere thank you to all those who supported this campaign and understood the importance of it.” A special donor appreciation event will be held later this summer to honor those who have given their support to the campaign.
