(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Volleyball team traveled to Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. for the team’s second NSIC conference game of the season this afternoon. After dropping a five game heartbreaker to the University of Mary last night, the Golden Eagles took the Wolves of Northern State University to another five game match. UMC dropped the first two games but rallied back in games three and four. Unfortunately, like last night, UMC came up just short, falling 15-12 in the final game. On the season, the Golden Eagles are 0-4 in five game matches.

Katie Bonine (Fr., OH, Cottage Grove, MN) continues to be an offensive force on the court for the Golden Eagles. She led all attackers with 21 kills in the match. Her 63 attack attempts were just six shy of tying the Golden Eagle record of 69 held by Joan Ebnet. Heather Foreman (Jr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) had 12 kills and senior Theresa Crance (Sr., MH, Timber Lake, SD) returned from an injury to tally 11 kills and a .364 attack percentage. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, MN) had 49 kills and tied for a match high in digs with 22. Allison Zajicek (Jr., MH, Beatrice, NE) had two solo blocks and seven assisted blocks. She also had nine kills with zero errors for a .409 attack percentage. Kelsey Aden led Northern State with 17 kills.

The Golden Eagles are 2-7 on the season and 0-2 in the NSIC. The Wolves are 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC. UMC travels to Jamestown, N.D. on September 11 to take on the Jimmies of Jamestown College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
