(Grand Forks, N.D.)- The U of M, Crookston (UMC) Women’s Volleyball team visited the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center this evening to do battle with the Fighting Sioux. The teams traded the first two games before UND took the final two to take a 3-1 match win.

The Golden Eagles started the first game flat-footed and let UND take a 21-7 lead. UMC rallied back to get within six points at 26-20. That’s where the rally would end as UND took the game 30-22. The fortunes were exactly opposite in the second game as UMC jumped out to an early 9-2 lead.  The Golden Eagles increased their lead to 22-9 and went on to win in commanding fashion, 30-18. UND fired back however and took games three and four 30-23 and 30-18 to take the match victory.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles offensively was Ashley Allen (So., OH, Buffalo, Minn.) with 13 kills and a .219 attack percentage. Amber Meyer (Fr., MH, Paxton, Neb.) followed Allen up with 12 kills and a .360 attack percentage. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded 43 assists on the Golden Eagle’s 48 kills in the match.
