Beavers Fire Back After Game One Loss to Defeat Golden Eagles 3-1

(Bemidji, Minn.)-  The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Women’s Volleyball team traveled east on Highway 2 this evening to take on NSIC rival Bemidji State University in a conference match. The match was slated to be a battle and the teams did not disappoint those in attendance. UMC took game one 30-25 but BSU game back to win games two, three and four (30-27, 30-23, 30-26) to take the match 3-1.

 

UMC as a team had a .345 attack percentage in game one but failed to hit above .200 in the final three games and finished with a match attack percentage of .167. Three Golden Eagle attackers finished with double-digit kills. Katie Bonine (Fr., OH, Cottage Grove, Minn.) led the team with 15 kills. She also helped out offensively with five service aces. Amber Meyer (Fr., MH, Paxton, Neb.) had a solid match collecting 14 kills and a .290 attack percentage. Senior Theresa Crance (MH, Timber Lake, S.D.) knocked down 11 kills in the match. Bemidji State’s Nicole Olson led all attackers with 19 kills. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, Minn.) assisted on 54 of UMC’s 59 total kills for the match.

 

The Golden Eagles are now 4-13 overall on the season and 2-5 in the NSIC. BSU improves to 6-6 on the season and 3-4 in conference play. UMC travels to Concordia- St. Paul on October 2 to take on the Golden Bears. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
