U of M, Crookston Women’s Soccer Team Hosts Bemidji State and Providence College This Sunday and Monday

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team hosts two games this Sunday and Monday. They will take on Bemidji State University in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) game on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Monday finds the Golden Eagles in non-conference action when they play host to Providence College of Otterburne, Manitoba, Canada. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.

 

The Golden Eagles are 4-10-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the NSIC after splitting two games this past weekend. On Saturday, Megan Gibeault (Fr., Fwd./Mid., Green Bay, Wis.) exploded for three goals and Kiely Bladow (Sr., Def./Mid., Monument, Colo.) added two assists as U of M, Crookston defeated Minnesota State University Moorhead by a score of 3-0. Leyla Castillo (Fr., GK, Miami, Fla.) shut out the Dragons to earn the victory in net. Sunday was a different story as Concordia-St. Paul opened up a 4-0 half time lead and went on to win 5-0.

 

The Golden Eagles are led by Gibeault who has seven goals and one assist for 15 points and Kelsey Palmer (Fr., Fwd./Mid., Crookston, Minn.) who has six goals and three assists for 15 points. Bladow has one goal and ten assists for 12 points. Rounding out the leaders is Vanessa Copiak (Jr., Fwd., Calgary, Alberta, Canada) who has three goals and five assists for 11 points. Bladow is the school’s all-time assist leader with 14.

Bemidji State University is 6-6-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the NSIC after defeating Concordia-St. Paul (3-1) and losing to MSU Moorhead in overtime. (2-1). They travel to Jamestown College on Saturday. The Beavers are led by Ashlee Ellefsen (Fr., Fwd., Hugo, Minn.) who has seven goals and two assists for 16 points. BSU defeated the Golden Eagles 1-0 in overtime in non-conference action back on September 15.

 

Providence College is located in Otterburne, Manitoba, Canada and competes in the North Central District of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The Lady Freemen are 8-5-0 on the season going into Saturday’s game against Northland Bible Baptist College. They have lost to two other NSIC opponents in Bemidji State University (10-0 & 3-0) and Minnesota State University Moorhead (7-0).
