(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Volleyball team carried the momentum from Saturday’s conference victory against Upper Iowa into tonight’s match with the University of North Dakota. The Golden Eagles took the first two tightly contested games 30-27 and 31-29. UMC had a slight hiccup in games three and four as UND took those games 30-13 and 30-24. The Golden Eagles managed only five kills in game three. Game five came down to momentum as UMC took an early lead and rallied to a 15-10 game and match victory. The Golden Eagle’s best attacking percentage of the night couldn’t have come at a better time as the team finished with a .375 attack percentage in game five (12K-3E-24TA).

Freshman Amber Meyer (MH, Paxton, Neb.) picked the perfect night to set her season and career kills record. Meyer led all attackers with 19 kills and had an attack percentage of .310. Defensively, she led all blockers with three solo blocks and added one assisted block. Consistent Golden Eagle attacker Theresa Crance (Sr., MH, Timber Lake, S.D.) had almost an error-free night finishing with 14 kills and only two errors for a .444 attack percentage. Crance added four assisted blocks on the defensive side of the net. Heather Foreman (Jr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) had 12 kills and finished just four attacks shy of the season high with 59. Katie Bonine (Fr., OH, Cottage Grove, Minn.) also finished with 12 kills and added three services aces with a devastating jump serve. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, Minn.) paced all setters with 54 assists in the match.

The University of North Dakota was led by Amanda Polzin who had 18 kills and an outstanding eight assisted blocks. Setter Megan Langseth had 48 assists while Courtney Halvorson led all players with four service aces and 20 digs.

The Golden Eagles up their record to 6-20 overall with the win. The University of North Dakota drops to 5-17 overall on the season. UMC is on the road this weekend as the team travels to SW Minnesota State University and Wayne State College in the team’s final regular season NSIC road trip. Game times are scheduled for 7:00 pm on Friday, October 26 and 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 27.
