Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Closes Out Regular Season at Home this Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team will close out the 2007 regular season this Saturday and Sunday when they play host to the University of Upper Iowa and Winona State University respectively. Game time is set for 1:00 pm both days.
The Golden Eagles hold a record of 5-13-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) after dropping games at Northern State University (5-0) and the University of Mary (4-2) this past weekend. They are tied for seventh place with Minnesota State University Moorhead. U of M, Crookston is led by Megan Gibeault (Fr., Fwd./Mid., Green Bay, Wis.) who has eight goals and two assists for 18 points and Kelsey Palmer (Fr., Fwd./Mid., Crookston, Minn.) who has seven goals and four assists for 18 points. Rounding out the leaders are Vanessa Copiak (Jr., Fwd., Calgary, Alberta, Canada) with four goals and seven assists for 15 points, Kiely Bladow (Sr., Def./Mid., Monument, Colo.) with one goal and13 assists for 15 points, Amber Erdmann (Jr., Mid./Fwd., Crookston, Minn.) with four goals and two assists for 10 points and Becky Thorbjornsen (Jr., Mid., Rapid City, S.D.) with four goals and one assist for nine points. Bladow is the school’s all-time assist leader with 17 and holds the single game record with five. She accomplished this feet back on September 2 against Presentation College. She leads the NSIC in assists and assists per game (0.72). She also ranks fifth in NCAA Division II in assists per game and third in total assists.
The University of Upper Iowa has an overall record of 10-6-1 and 4-1-1 in the NSIC after victories over Wayne State College (4-1) and MSU Moorhead (2-0) last weekend. The Peacocks are led by Amy Campbell who has eight goals and two assists for 18 points.
Winona State University has an overall record of 14-3-0 and 6-1-0 in the NSIC after victories over Concordia-St. Paul (1-0-2OT) and MSU Moorhead (5-0) last weekend. They are led by Holly Sutton who had 13 points and five assists for 31 points.
