#7 Mustangs Attack Their Way to a 3-0 Victory Over Minnesota, Crookston

(Marshall, Minn.)- The Golden Eagle Women’s Volleyball team traveled to Marshall, Minn. this evening to do battle with the #7 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University. The Mustangs used a team .396 attack percentage to win in straight games 3-0.

NSIC Preseason Player of the Year Erin Contons (SMSU) led all attackers this evening with 12 kills and a .480 attack percentage (12K-0E-25TA) in the match. UMC’s Katie Bonine (Fr., MH, Cottage Grove, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with eight kills and added two service aces in the loss. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, Minn.) assisted on 26 of the Golden Eagle’s 31 kills. SMSU setter Sara Graf led the setters with 46 assists and two service aces. The Mustangs as a team had 11 service aces in the conference victory.

The Golden Eagles are 6-21 overall this season and 3-13 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Southwest Minnesota State is 21-6 overall and 12-3 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to the court tomorrow night as they take on the Wildcats from Wayne State College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
