Hartigan Leads Wildcats Past Golden Eagles 3-0

(Wayne, Neb.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team traveled to Wayne, Nebraska this afternoon to take on the Wildcats of Wayne State College. The team was looking to avenge a 3-0 loss to Southwest Minnesota State last night, but Wayne’s Lea Hartigan had a different idea as she led the Wildcats in the 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, 30-12) victory over the Golden Eagles.
Wayne’s Lea Hartigan was the only attacker to reach double-digits in kills. She finished the match with 17 kills and a .410 attack percentage (17K-1E-39TA). Allison Zajicek (Jr., MH, Beatrice, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles with eight kills and a .444 attack percentage (8K-0E-18TA). WSC’s Jenna Jansen led the setters with 35 assists. Cassie Yates (Jr., S, Buffalo, Minn.) followed closely behind with 27 assists for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles are 6-22 overall this season and 3-14 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Wayne State moves to 19-10 overall and 11-5 in the NSIC. UMC returns to the court on November 2nd to host the University of South Dakota. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
