Golden Eagle Men’s Hockey Team Drops Season Opener to Bethel by Score of 4-0

(Crookston, Minn.) – Bethel University took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission and added three second period goals on its way to a 4-0 victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston in St. Paul, Minn. on Friday night. It was the season opener for both teams.

 

The Royals struck with 8:24 elapsed in the game when Christian Fogerty scored an unassisted goal. In period number two, Bethel exploded for three goals. With just under three minutes gone, Kent Bostrom scored off assists from Jeff Balvin and Matt Hall. Balvin then got in the goal column with a short-handed goal with 10:47 elapsed. The Royals closed out the game’s scoring with 11:28 gone in the second period as Dan Bonne tallied a goal off a pass from Brad Peterson.

 

Eric Everson (Jr., G, Stevens Point, Wis.) had 30 saves for the Golden Eagles.

 

U of M, Crookston starts the season with a record of 0-1-0 while Bethel University starts at 1-0-0. The teams will play again on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
