Golden Eagle Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams Open 2007-08 Season This Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.)- The Golden Eagle Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams open the 2007-08 season on the road this weekend. The men’s team travels to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the Vikings of Augustana College, while the women’s team is on the road to Minnesota, Morris and Crown College.

 

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Basketball team and Augustana College meet on Friday, November 16 at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The Vikings are picked to finish sixth in the North Central Conference (NCC). The Golden Eagles are led by NSIC Co-Newcomer of the Year and Minnesota Crookston’s Male Newcomer of the Year Bryce Cummings (So., 6’2, G, Mukwonago, Wis.). This is the season opener for both squads.

 

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Basketball team plays a double-header on the road this weekend. On Friday, November 16 the team visits Morris, Minn. to play the Cougars in non-conference action at the UMM P.E. Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. It is the first game of the 2007-08 season for both teams. The women then travel southeast to St. Boniface, Minn. to play Crown College on Saturday November 17 at 3:00 p.m. It is the second game of the season for both teams. The Golden Eagles are led by Minnesota, Crookston’s Female Newcomer of the Year Katie Cheline (So., 5’10, F, Mondovi, Wis.).

 

Both Golden Eagle squads return home to Lysaker Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 20 when Valley City State University visits the University of Minnesota, Crookston for a non-conference double-header. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. for the women and 8:00 p.m. for the men.
