(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Western Equestrian team travels to Fargo, N.D. this Saturday and Sunday for a show at North Dakota State University (NDSU). Saturday’s event will get underway at 1:00 pm while Sunday’s will start at 9:00 am.

Golden Eagle Coach Nicky Overgaard is looking forward to this weekend and expects some strong performances. “We have had several great workouts over the last few weeks,” says Coach Overgaard. “I feel prepared to go into this competition and do well.”

Coach Overgaard expects Jessica Hanson (So., Andover, Minn.) to continue to excel in the Intermediate II Division. She also expects strong showings out of Melanie Regan (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska), Gretchen Lucken (Fr., Greenwald, Minn.) and Melissa Stephens (So., Chaska, Minn.) in the Beginner group. Sheena Engelbert (Sr., Bruce Crossing, Mich.) is expected to point out in her Novice Division and qualify for the Regional Competition at this show.

“Getting several shows and some wins under their belts has given them tremendous confidence,” says Coach Overgaard. “Overall, we are staying competitive within our region. Our team needs to remain confident that they are as tough as every other team out there.”
