(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s basketball coach Mike Roysland announced today the signing of Lauren Kessler of Albertville, Minn. to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles in 2008-09.
Kessler is a 6’1, center who plays basketball at St. Michael-Albertville High School (STMA). She is coming of a junior season where she did not play due to a knee injury. As a sophomore, the Knights took fourth place at the Minnesota Class AAA state tournament. Over the summer she was invited and played at the Minnesota Elite camp. During her career, Kessler has received outstanding academic achievement awards, three sport participation awards and the Courtesy and Respect Award.
“Lauren is a great recruit for Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball. She had a knee injury a year ago and I believe she went under the radar with a lot of coaches throughout the state,” says coach Roysland. “She has good post moves and brings the ability to shoot from the outside.”
Kessler is undeclared on her major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Mark and Gale Kessler of Albertville, Minn.
