(Crookston, Minn.) – Goaltender Eric Everson (Jr., G., Stevens Point, Wis.) supplied his third straight outstanding performance between the pipes and forward John Lombardi (Sr., Fwd., Apple Valley, Minn.) scored his third goal of the week to lead U of M, Crookston to a 1-0 victory over Lawrence University in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) action today at the Crookston Civic Arena. It was the third straight win for the Golden Eagles.
It appeared as if no one would score until Lombardi found the back of the Lawrence net with an unassisted goal 1:24 into the third period. Everson was unbeatable in net stopping all 36 shots from the Vikings to secure the shut out victory.
U of M, Crookston improves their record to 3-6-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the MCHA. Lawrence University falls to 1-6-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the MCHA.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Hancock, Mich. to take on Finlandia University in MCHA games. The puck drops at 7:15 pm (EST) and 3:00 pm (EST) respectively.
