Lombardi & Everson Take Home MCHA Honors

 (Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey players John Lombardi (So., Fwd., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Eric Everson (Jr., G., Stevens Point, Wis.) took home Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) honors today after helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 record last week.
Lombardi scored three goals and added an assist for four points this past week to be named the MCHA Player of the Week. He scored two power play goals in Tuesday’s 6-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead and netted the game winner in unassisted fashion in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Lawrence University. Lombardi’s major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston is undeclared.
Everson was stellar between the pipes all week to be named the MCHA Defensive Player of the Week. On Tuesday, he stopped 27 Concordia-Moorhead shots in U of M, Crookston’s 6-1 victory. On Saturday, Everson turned away 45 Lawrence University shots in a 3-2 win. Sunday saw him earn a 1-0 shut out victory as he had 36 saves against the Vikings. Everson’s major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston is Pre-Physical Therapy.
The Golden Eagles have won three straight and have an overall record of 3-6-0. Their MCHA record stands at 2-4-0. U of M, Crookston will travel to Hancock, Mich. this Friday and Saturday for an MCHA series with Finlandia University. The puck drops at 7:30 pm (EST) and 3:00 pm (EST) respectively.
