Golden Eagle Men’s and Women’s Basketball on the Road for Weekend Games

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are both looking for their first NSIC wins of the season this weekend as they travel to Concordia- St. Paul on Friday, December 7 and MSU Moorhead on Saturday, December 8. Tip-off times are set for 6:00 p.m. for the women and 8:00 p.m. for the men on both nights.
The Golden Eagle women’s team enters the weekend 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC. The team dropped two games on the NSIC conference opener weekend, falling to Wayne State College (69-89) and SW Minnesota State (66-75). Leading the way for the Golden Eagles offensively on the season is Jamie Zelinsky (Fr, G, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) with 16.1 points per game. Zelinsky has been dishing out the points as well. She is second on the team with 34 assists. Defensively, she is second on the team with 18 steals. As a team, UMC is averaging 73.5 points per game. The Golden Bears of Concordia- St. Paul enter the weekend a perfect 5-0 and 1-0 in the NSIC. Amanda Behnke leads CSP with 19.4 points per game. The Golden Bears are averaging 91.4 points per game while holding their opponents to 63.4 points per game. The Dragons of MSU Moorhead enter the weekend 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC. The Dragons are led by Allison Swenson’s 16 points per game. MSU Moorhead is averaging 73.5 points per game in their six contests this season.
The men enter the weekend1-5 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston fell to Wayne State College (66-73) and SW Minnesota State (58-76) last weekend at Lysaker Gymnasium. Leading the way for UMC is Bryce Cummings (So, G, Mukwonago, Wis.) who’s averaging 13.3 points per game on the season. The men are averaging 63.5 points per game in their six contests. The Golden Bears enter the weekend 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC. CSP is led by Craig Heiman who’s averaging 17.3 points per contest. Concordia- St. Paul is averaging 74.4 points per contest. The Dragons of MSU Moorhead are led by Justin Burgess. Burgess is averaging 15.2 points per game on the season. MSU Moorhead is averaging 73.6 points per game as a team.
Both teams return home on Tuesday, December 11 to take on Minnesota Duluth in non-conference games. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. for the women and 8:00 p.m. for the men in Lysaker Gymnasium.
