Golden Bears Hold Golden Eagles to 45 Points in NSIC Loss

(St. Paul, Minn.)- The Golden Bears of Concordia- St. Paul entered tonight’s game averaging 91 points per game on the season. Minnesota, Crookston would hold CSP to less than their season average but fell 83-45 at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.
Concordia- St. Paul opened the game taking a 20-5 lead and would go on to take 39-24 lead into the half. The Golden Eagles shot just 27 percent from the field in the half to CSP’s 40 percent. Concordia’s Kelly Lund had an outstanding half, leading all scorers with 14 points. Jamie Zelinsky (Fr, G, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led UMC with 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play.
The shooting struggles continued for UMC in the second half as the team only shot 20 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles only scored two points in the first 10:22 of the second session. Leading all scorers in the game were CSP’s Candace Olstad and Kelly Lund who both finished with 18 points. Zelinsky led the way for the Golden Eagles with 13 points on the night.
Tonight’s loss takes the Golden Eagles to 4-5 on the season, and 0-3 in the NSIC. The Golden Bears improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Golden Eagles travel to Moorhead, Minn. tomorrow night to take on the Dragons of MSU Moorhead. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
