Franklin Pierce Scores Three Third Period Goals On Way to 5-1 Victory Over Golden Eagles

(Crookston, Minn.) – Franklin Pierce University (New Hampshire) scored three third period goals to break open a one goal game and defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston by a score of 5-1 tonight at the Crookston Civic Arena in non-conference action.
The Ravens took at 1-0 first period lead when Joe Fields beat Golden Eagle net minder Justin Klinkhammer (So. G., Thief River Falls, Minn.) with an even strength goal at 16:48 elapsed. Field put Franklin Pierce up two goals at 10:39 of the second period with his second even strength goal. U of M, Crookston got on the board just 58 second later when Teal Plaine (Sr., Fwd., Hallock, Minn.) scored an even strength goal off assists from Brent Groenke (Sr., Def., Morden, Manitoba, Canada) and Jared Kopp (Jr., Fwd., Bismarck, N.D.).
However, the third period was all Ravens as Jeff Kasper and Pete Wilson scored power play goals at 3:05 and 12:52 respectively. Fields added his third goal of the game in empty net fashion at 19:35 to record a hat trick and secure the 5-1 victory.
Franklin Pierce improves their record to 3-9-0 on the year while the Golden Eagles fall to 3-10-0 overall.
