Adrian College Explodes for Seven Third Period Goals to Defeat Golden Eagles 14-2

(Crookston, Minn.) – Adrian College scored seven third period goals and Eric Miller recorded his second hat-trick in as many games as the Bulldogs defeated the University of Minnesota-Crookston by a score of 14-2 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) action today at the Crookston Civic Arena.

 

Adrian took an early two goal lead off even strength goals from Jeremy Klaver (4:24) and Shawn Skelly (4:44). Miller recorded a power play goal at 10:26 to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Bill Horton (Fr., Def., New Hartford, N.Y.) sent U of M, Crookston into the locker room down by two when he scored a power play goal at 15:18. He was assisted by Ben Sullivan (Fr., Def., Crookston, Minn.) and Martin Husicka (Fr., Fwd., Vsetin Czech Republic).

 

Adrian opened the second period with three straight goals to take a 6-1 lead. Sam Kuzyk scored an even strength goal at 2:18 and followed it up with a power play goal at 7:10. Miller scored an even strength goal at 11:44. The Golden Eagles scored their second goal of the game at 15:36 when Matt Marchel (So., Def., Grand Forks, N.D.) scored an even strength goal off an assist from Alex Maginnis (Fr., Fwd., Mason City, Iowa). Miller scored his second goal of the period and third of the game at 18:34 in short handed fashion to give the Bulldogs a 7-2 lead.

 

Adrian College exploded for seven goals in the third period. Adam Krug added two goals (11:16 and 15:18) while Quinn Waller (8:30), Kyle Watson (9:02), Chris Stansik (13:24), Mike Towns (16:36) and Bobby Himeman (19:50) each added one to make the final score 14-2.

 

U of M, Crookston falls to 3-14-0 overall and 2-10-0 in the MCHA. Adrian College improves their record to 14-3-0 overall and 11-1-0 in the MCHA. The Golden Eagles will return to action on Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26 when they host Concordia University of Wisconsin in MCHA games. The puck drops at 7:30 pm and 2:00 pm respectively at the Crookston Civic Arena.
