(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Hunt Equestrian team traveled to Madison, Wis. this past Saturday. The Saturday competition was small due to limited entries. U of M, Crookston took 10 riders who were close to pointing out of their respective divisions and qualifying for the Regional competition. However, Sunday’s competition was cancelled. Unfortunately none of the Golden Eagle riders qualified. It was very disappointing for the entire traveling team.
There were several good placings for the U of M, Crookston riders. Kayla Klein(Fr, Hazen, N.D.) placed third in Novice Flat Division. Paige Harty (So, Waseca, Minn.) and Rebecca Rhodus (Fr, Kansas City, Missouri) both placed second in their respective Advanced Walk Trot Canter Divisions. Andrea Reed (Sr, Williston, N.D.) took home third in the Walk Trot Division. The rest of the Golden Eagle riders rode well.
“I was impressed to see how all 10 of them stepped up and rode to the best of their ability on tough horses,” says Coach Brooke Marcus.
The final competition of the regular season for the Hunt team is on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 when they travel to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
