UMC participates in Zone 9, Region 3 of the IHSA. Shows are hosted by the colleges in the region and they provide judges, horses, and ribbons for that show. Riders are separated into classes based on their ability (determined at the beginning of the year). To select the horses they will ride in their classes, riders draw horse's names from a bucket about five minutes before their class begins. In other words riders may jump a course or do a reining pattern on a horse they've never ridden before! That's the beauty of IHSA!!
