(2/4/05)- Golden Eagle Soccer Has Four Sign National Letter of Intent

(10/30/04)- Golden Eagles Drop Final Home Game The UMC Women's Soccer team lost its final regular season and home game of the 2004 season the the Bemidji State Beavers today 4-0 at the UMC Soccer field. The team has been battling injuries but staying focused and determined to finish out the season with a strong performance. The team played with only 10 players today, including Senior Amber Frey who is battling a partially torn MCL. Today UMC only managed four shots to BSU's 13. Highlights- Whitney Sengthao lead the Beavers with two goals on the day. Katie Meinhardt and Tegan Moehn each added a tally for BSU. Meinhardt also added an assist in the game. UMC finishes the season 3-15 overall.

(10/24/04)- Wolves Dominate Golden Eagles The UMC Women's Soccer team which has been descimated by injuries managed to start only nine players for the game on Sunday in Aberdeen, S.D. The team battled but lost 3-1 and was outshot 45-1 in the game. However, the one shot UMC had off of the foot of Kiely Bladow (assisted by Brittany Efird) beat the NSU goaltender and ended Northern's three game shutout streak. UMC is now 3-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play. UMC hosts Bemidji State on Saturday, October 30 at 1:00 p.m., it is the final home game of the 2004 soccer season.

(10/22/04)- Dragons Too Much For Golden Eagles The Golden Eagle Women's Soccer team lost 4-1 to MSU-Moorhead on a rainy, dreary day in Moorhead. UMC had a slow start, giving up three goals in the first half. The team tied the Dragons in the second half 1-1 but the damage had been done. Highlights- UMC's Christie Chappell scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles, she was assisted by Lydia Johnson. Kortney Yager had a big day for the Dragons. She scored two goals in the first half. Tara Moline and Maureen Ross added the other two tallies for MSU-Moorhead. UMC is now 3-13 over all and 1-4 in conference play. The team hosts Bemidji State on Saturday October 30th. It is the final home game of the 2004 soccer season.

(10/17/04)- Mustangs Shut Out Golden Eagles 4-0 The Golden Eagle Women's Soccer team took to the field again in near freezing conditions. This afternoon the wind gave way to snowflakes as the Golden Eagles took on the Mustangs from SW-Minnesota State. UMC, which has been playing shorthanded for weeks after numerous injuries looked to even their conference record to 2-2. Unfortunately, SW-Minnesota State had too many bodies to keep in check as the Mustangs went on to shutout UMC 4-0. Joelle Dean had four shots and two goals for the Mustangs. UMC's Christie Chappell had seven shots for the Golden Eagles but couldn't find the back of the goal. UMC is now 3-12 overall and 1-3 in conference play. SW-MSU is 7-7-1 overall and 3-0 in NSIC Conference play. UMC Women's Soccer travels to MSU-Moorhead and Northern State next weekend. The team returns home on October 30 to take on Bemidji State in the final home soccer game of the 2004 season.

(10/16/04)- Golden Eagle Soccer Battles for First Conference Victory The temperature reach a blustery 35 degrees and a 25 mile-per-hour cross wind made the conditions treacherous, but mother nature wasn't enough to stop the UMC Women's Soccer team from notching their first conference victory and first victory over Wayne State ever. UMC beat Wayne State 3-2 at UMC this afternoon. It was a rough game with the teams committing a combined 19 fouls and a yellow card for WSC. Highlights- Brittany Efird, Cory Sak and Amber Frey each scored a goal for the Golden Eagles. Christie Chappell added an assist and had six shots in the game. UMC is now 3-11 overall and 1-2 in NSIC Conference play. UMC takes on the Mustangs from SW-Minnesota State tomorrow at UMC. The game begins at 1:00 p.m.

(10/10/04)- Golden Eagles Battle #2 Concordia-St. Paul The day after suffering a shutout loss to the #1 team in the NSIC, the Golden Eagle Women's Soccer team laced up their spikes to face the #2 NSIC team, Concordia-St. Paul. Although UMC fell to the "Golden Bears" 2-1, the ladies played tough and kept CSP on the ropes. Highlights- Brittany Efird had two shots and recorded her second goal of the season. Christie Chappell finished the game with six shots and goalkeeper Rachel LaFond recorded five saves for the Golden Eagles. UMC is now 2-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The team hosts Wayne State on October 16 and SW-Minnesota State on October 17. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the UMC soccer field.

Winona, the #1 ranked team in the NSIC outshot UMC 28-4 on the way to the shutout. Amy Budish and Holly Sutton had two goals-a-piece for the "Warriors". Sarah Griffith and Ashley Vogds each added a goal for WSU in the second half. UMC is now 2-10 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC. Winona State is 8-2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Golden Eagles take on Concordia- St. Paul tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

UMC fell 5-2 on two goals each by Rocky Mountains, Roisin Mahon and Jeannie McGonagle. Nicola Charles scored the the other goal for the Lady Bears. UMC now travels to Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul on October 9 & 10 to begin confence play. Highlights- UMC's Kiely Bladow scored her first goal of the season in the 28th minute of the game. Brittany Efird tallied her first assist of the season on the goal. Amber Frey scored her first goal of the season at the 56th minute mark. It was Frey's first goal of the season.

The Eagles suited up just 11 players and lost midfielder Rachelle Johnson midway through the first half to an injury. UMC was unable to offer the Yellowjacket defense much of a threat as MSU-Billings out shot the Eagles 18-2 in the game. LaFond made five saves for the Eagles in the loss.
"Of all the teams we've played this year, that team played with a lot of heart," said head coach Don Trentham (Billings) of the Golden Eagles. "We've been in that situation (shorthanded) and it's no fun. They made it difficult for us to win today because they played with heart."

Seidel scored 4 goals in the game to defeat UMC 4-0. It was Seidel's 11-14 goals of the season. UMC's Christie Chappell finished the game with 4 shots. Allison Warren, Brittany Efird and Cory Sak finished the game with one shot a piece. UMC travels to Montana next weekend to play Montana State-Billings on October 2nd and Rocky Mountain College on October 3rd.

After scoring four goals for the entire season, UMC opened up to tally five goals in one game to shut out the Mayville State Comets. Highlights - Leading goal scorer Christie Chappell recorded a hat-trick and Allison Warren scored her first two goals of the season. Lyndsey Watson recorded her first assist of the season on Chappell's third goal. Kiely Bladow recorded her first two assists of the season on both of Warren's goals. Rachel LaFond recorded her first shutout of the season after filling in for injured goalkeeper Katie Leonard. The Golden Eagles out shot the Comets 29-2 for the game. The team is now on the road for six games and return home on October 16 to face Wayne State at the UMC Soccer Field.

(9/12/04) Jimmies Take One From UMC The Golden Eagles continue to stuggle on offense. UMC out shot the Jimmies 12 to 7 but falied to capitalize. The Jimmies scored both of the teams goals in the second half. Christie Chappell and Brittany Efird lead the Golden Eagles in shot with four a piece.
