(11/11/04)- Wayne Ends Golden Eagles Season

The Golden Eagle Volleyball team fell short in the first round of the NSIC Tournament losing to the Wayne State Wildcats 3-1. The teams swapped the first two games 30-24 but Wayne rallied to win the final two games 30-28 and 30-15 to end the Golden Eagles season. Highlights- Senior Allison Kluck recorded 16 kills with a .424 attack%. Senior setter Jamie Wolff finished with 47 assists and Joan Ebnet finished with 28 defensive digs for the Golden Eagles. UMC finished 14-19 overall this season and 6-9 in conference play. Congratulations to seniors Allison Kluck, Jamie Wolff and Liza Winkler on their outstanding volleyball careers at UMC.

(11/8/04)- Four Golden Eagles Earn Post Season Honors

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston junior outside hitter Joan Ebnet has been named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team and senior middle hitter Allison Kluck, senior setter Jamie Wolff and sophomore middle hitter Erin Flynn were named NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Ebnet (Pequot Lakes, MN) led the Golden Eagles in kills with 419 (3.55 kills/game) this season. She led the team and the NSIC in defensive digs with 591 (5.01 digs/game). Ebnet also led the Golden Eagle Volleyball team in service aces, finishing the regular season with 38.

Kluck (Hawley, MN) recorded 353 kills this season (3.02 kills/game) good for second on the team. Kluck was also second on the team in block solos (11) and block assists (45). Wolff (Rosemount, MN) led UMC and was second in the NSIC in assists with 1,354 (11.67 assists/game). Flynn (Bloomer, WI) tallied 345 kills (2.92 kills/game) this season. She led the team in blocks with 12 solo and 54 assisted for a total of 66.

 

(11/6/04)- UMC Drops Final Conference Game of the Season

The Golden Eagle Volleyball team lost their final match of the 2004 season to Winona State 3-1. The team started out flat dropping the first two games 21-30 and 22-30 but rallied back to win game three 31-29. Winona finished off UMC in game four 23-30. Winona came out on the offensive out killing UMC 67-49. Winona also finished with a .287 attack% to UMC's .216 attack%. Highlights- Joan Ebnet lead all attackers with 16 kills. She also recorde 14 digs in the match. Jo Hejny recorded 10 kills, Jamie Wolff had 39 assists and Katie Jeremiason lead UMc with 15 digs. For Winona, Kaylan Lati and Megan Pulvermacher lead the Warriors with 15 kills each. Lisa Dobie finished the match with 55 assists and Kaylan Lati and Lisa Dobie each finished with 17 defensive digs. UMC finishes the season 6-8 in the NSIC and 14-18 overall. The Golden Eagles are ranked #5 in the NSIC and will take on #4 Wayne State at 5 p.m. to begin the NSIC Tournament held from November 11-13. The NCAA Regionals for volleyball will be held on November 18-20.

(11/5/04)- Golden Bears Dominate

The Golden Eagles couldn't carry last weekend's momentum into the final weekend series of the season as the team fell 3-0 to #1 Concordia-St. Paul. The team couldn't get the offense going as the team finished with a -.038 attack% to CSP's .321 attack%. Highlights- Jo Hejny led all UMC attackers with eight kills, Jamie Wolff had 22 assists and Katie Jeremiason had 17 digs. For CSP, Jessica Lucia lead the Golden Bears with 12 kills, Cailin Terhaar had 42 assists and Megan Graham finished with 18 digs. UMC is now 14-17 overall and 6-7 in NSIC Conference play. Concordia-St. Paul is 26-1 overall and 13-0 in the NSIC. UMC plays Winona State tomorrow evening in Winona to finish up the regular season.

(10/31/04)- UMC Volleyball Completes Weekend Sweep

UMC Women's Volleyball carried the momentum from last nights game to record the team's first ever NSIC weekend sweep. A struggling Wolves team put up a fight to drive the match to five games but UMC prevailed 3-2 in Aberdeen, SD. Tonight's game had the same story line as last night's game. UMC won the first match in extra points but NSU battled to win the second and third game. However, tonight's game five was much more interesting than last night's as that came went extra points as well with the Golden Eagles pulling out the win 18-16. Highlights- Joan Ebnet had 16 kills and 32 digs. Erin Flynn and Allison Kluck both finished with 13 kills a piece. Jamie Wolff had 57 assists and Katie Jeremiason had 37 defensive digs for the match. For Northern, Chelsey Deibert had 21 kills, Kellie Heier had 56 assists and Alecia Stark had 28 digs. UMC is now 14-16 overall and 6-6 in NSIC play. Northern is 4-23 overall and 1-10 in conference play. UMC travels to Concordia-St. Paul to take on the #1 ranked Golden Bears on November 5th.

(10/30/04)- Golden Eagles Pull Off Upset of #2 MSU-Moorhead

A week after winning one of the biggest matches of the season, the Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team topped their biggest win with an incredible upset of the #15 nationally ranked MSU-Moorhead Dragons(#2 in the NSIC). It was UMC's first ever win over a nationally ranked opponent. The battle went five games with UMC prevailing 3-2. UMC took the first game going extra points for a 32-30 victory. The team recorded a .364 attack% (24K-8E-44TA) in the first game to Moorhead's .277 attack%. The Golden Eagles faultered in the second and third games to go down 2-1, but with their backs against the wall, the team rose to the occassion and beat the Dragons in games four and five. In game four, UMC posted its highest attack% of the night, finished the game with a .384 attack%. UMC took game five in dominating fashion beating MSU-Moorhead 15-6 for a 3-2 match victory. Highlights- Erin Flynn lead all attackers with 27 kills for the match. She also finished the match with an outstanding attack% of .575 (27K-4E-40TA). Flynn also tallied five block assists in the match. Setter Jamie Wolff recorded 69 assists in the match, four off of her UMC record 73 that she recorded in 2002. Libero Katie Jeremiason helped keep the Golden Eagles in the match by recording 36 digs on the night. For the Dragons, Sigourney Schaffer had 20 kills and a .341 attack% (20K-5E-44TA). Setter Julie Vancura had 52 assists in the match for the Dragons. UMC is now 13-16 overall and 5-6 in the NSIC. MSU-Moorhead is 22-3 overall and 9-2 in the NSIC.

(10/23/04)- Golden Eagles Win Biggest Game of the Season

The final home game of the 2004 volleyball season saw the Golden Eagle Volleyball team play with unmatched excitement and emotion to defeat the Wildcats 3-1. The match saw three seniors, Allison Kluck, Jamie Wolff and Liza Winkler play their final game as Golden Eagles at home. Allison finished her record breaking career at home by setting a new UMC career kill record. Allison needed nine kills to break the old record of 1,225 kills in a career set by Kendra Corneliusen. She recorded 16 kills in the match this afternoon. The scores were close with multiple lead changes in each game, but both teams battled to get an offensive attack going. Wayne State finished with a team attack% of .078 and the Golden Eagles finished with a .185 team attack%. Highlights- UMC's Jo Hejny had a great match posting 20 kills and a .224 attack%. Allison Kluck had 16 kills, Erin Flynn had 11 kills and setter Jamie Wolff finished the match with 54 assists. UMC finished the match with 100 team digs. For Wayne State, Jacey Kuck Schwarz finished with 13 kills, Lani Recob and Chelse Schultz finished with 12 kills each and setter Julie Jacobsen finished the match with 48 assists. Wayne State recorded 93 total team digs. The Golden Eagles are now 12-16 overall and 4-6 in conference play. Wayne State College is 15-11 overall this season. The team hits the road for the remainder of the season as they face MSU-Moorhead and Northern State next weekend. They then travel to Concordia-St. Paul and Winona State on November 5 & 6.

(10/22/04)- Golden Eagles Fall Short to Mustangs

The UMC Women's Volleyball team fell tonight to the SW-Minnesota State Mustangs. Although the Golden Eagles lost 3-0, each game was a battle down to the wire. In each game, the lead was tossed back and forth with the Mustangs pulling out the final point for the match win. The Golden Eagle defense kept the team in the match digging 83 balls against an SMSU .310 team attack%. Highlights- Allison Kluck finished the match with 12 kills and a .370 attack%. Joan Ebnet finished with 11 kills and 20 digs and Erin Flynn ended the night with 10 kills and a .368 attack%. Setter Jamie Wolff had 42 assists for the Golden Eagles. Erin Contons lead SMSU with 20 kills and a .348 attack% for the match. Megan Wendorff had 14 kills and Jen Otto had 12 kills on the night. Krystie Kaukola had 41 assists for the Mustangs. UMC is now 11-16 overall and 3-6 in NSIC Conference play. SMSU is 16-5 overall on the season. UMC hosts Wayne State tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the final home conference game of the 2004 volleyball season.

(10/19/04)- Golden Eagles Beat UND Again

The UMC Golden Eagles made it a sweep of the University of North Dakota this season, by beating the Sioux 3-0 at the Betty Englestad Sioux Center in Grand Forks. UMC had beaten UND for the first time in their career on August 31, 2004 in Crookston. That game ended 3-1 with UMC winning the final three games of the night. Highlights- Jo Hejny Joan Ebnet and Allison Kluck finished the match with 14 kills a piece. Each also finished with an attack% over .300. Allison Kluck finished with an outstanding .522 attack% (14K-2E-23A) for the Golden Eagles. Jamie Wolff had 46 assists and three aces. Liza Winkler added two service aces in the match. The team finished with an overall attack% of .268 to UND's .145. UMC is now 11-15 overall and 3-5 in conference play. The team returns to conference play this weekend in their final homestand of the 2004 season. UMC takes on Southwest State on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Wayne State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

(10/19/04)- Ebnet Named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week

Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball player Joan Ebnet, (Jr., Outside Hitter, Pequot Lakes, MN) was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last week against Bemidji State, South Dakota State and Augustana. Ebnet totaled 68 digs and 41 kills for the Golden Eagles last week. She recorded a school single match record and NSIC season high 42 digs to lead UMC in a 2-3 loss to #19 Augustana. She also added 18 kills in that match. The volleyball team set an NSIC season high for total digs in a match with 127 against Augustana. Ebnet had 16 kills and 20 digs in the win over Bemidji State and added seven kills and six digs against South Dakota State. Ebnet leads the Golden Eagle Volleyball team in kills with 331, kills/game with 3.64, defensive digs with 439 and digs/game with 4.82. The Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team finishes up their 2004 home schedule this weekend as they take on SW-Minnesota State on Friday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. The team battles Wayne State (NE) on Saturday, October 23 at 3:00 p.m. Both games will be at Lysaker Gymnasium.


(10/16/04)- Golden Eagle Volleyball Loses to #19 Augustana in Five

The Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team had the Vikings backed into a corner Saturday night but couldn't convert as Augustana went on to beat UMC 3-2 in Sioux Falls, SD. UMC and Augustana traded wins into the fifth game that went extra points, 21-23. In game five, the Golden Eagles had four match points and the Vikings had three match points that neither team could capitalize on. The five game battle was decided on the defensive side of the ball as UMC and Augustana finished the match with under a .200 attack%. The Golden Eagles finished with 127 defensive digs and Augustana finished with 126 digs for the match. Highlights- Jo Hejny led all attackers with 25 kills and a .288 attack% and 31 digs. Joan Ebnet finished with 18 kills and 42 digs (New UMC Single Game Record). Allison Kluck had 15 kills and Erin Flynn finished with 14 kills. Jamie Wolff finished with 71 assists, two shy of her own single game record of 73. She set the record versus U of M, Morris in 2002. Nicole Steffl led the Vikings with 18 kills and 27 digs, while Abby McDonald added 16 kills. UMC is now 10-15 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Augustana is 14-7 overall. UMC travels to UND on Tuesday, October 19. The team returns home on October 22 & 23 for the final home stand of the season against Southwest State and Wayne State.

(10/15/04)- South Dakota Beats UMC 3-0

South Dakota's offense was too much for the Golden Eagles on Friday night in Brookings, South Dakota. The "Jackrabbits" beat UMC 3-0. The UMC offense was silenced with a .142 attack percentage for the game and a negative attack percentage in the second game, a game that SDSU won easily 30-14. SDSU finished with a .423 attack percentage for the match. Highlights- Allison Kluck led the Golden Eagles offense with 10 kills for the match. Jamie Wolff added 29 assists against South Dakota. UMC is now 10-14 overall and 3-5 in conference play. The "Jackrabbits" are 10-11 on the season. UMC volleyball travels to Augustana for a Saturday matchup against the "Vikings".

(10/12/04)- Golde Eagles Dominate Bemidji State

BSU hosted the Golden Eagles at the new Bemidji High School because the BSU gym is having a new floor installed. The change of scenery had little effect on a UMC team that only trailed twice in the entire match as they went on to beat BSU 3-0. After a first match that came down to the wire with UMC prevailing 30-28, the Golden Eagles turned the cruise control on to dominate in the final two matches 30-18 and 30-22. UMC and BSU were tied for the fifth spot in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles now have control of that spot with the win over the "Beavers". The team also extended Bemidji's losing streak to six matches. Highlights- Joan Ebnet finished the match with 16 kills and 20 digs. Jamie Wolff had 39 assists, Katie Jeremiason had 17 digs, Theresa Crance finished with a .429 hitting% and Liza Winkler had her ace dance tuned up as she recorded three service aces in the match, one of which gave the Golden Eagles the win in the second game. UMC is now 10-13 overall and 3-5 in NSIC Conference play. The team travels to South Dakota this weekend to take on SDSU and Augustana. On October 19 the team is in Grand Forks to take on UND, game time is 7:00 p.m. UMC Volleyball returns home on October 22 and 23 to take on Southwest State and Wayne State in the team's home finale.

(10/11/04)- Kluck, Jeremiason and Wolff Named NSIC Players of the Week

Allison Kluck was named Offensive Co-Player of the week for her outstanding offensive play last week, by averaging 4.00 kills/game. She recorded 11 kills in the win over Bemidji State and added 20 more in the win over Bentley. Kluck then posted a career high 26 kills in the win over St. Edward's and finished the St. Edward's Tournament by posting 15 kills against Incarnate Word. Katie Jeremiason was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording 95 digs for a 5.27 dig per game average in UMC's 3-1 week. She recorded 21 digs against Bemidji State and had 16 in the win over Bentley. She set a new school single-match record with 33 digs against St. Edward's and had 25 digs against Incarnate Word. Jamie Wolff was named to the All-Tournament team at the St. Edward's Tournament after recording 157 assists in three matches. She recorded 50 assists against Bentley, 62 against St. Edward's and 45 against Incarnate Word. She had 47 assists earlier in the week against Bemidji State. She averaged 11.33 assists per game during the four UMC matches last week.

 

(10/9/04)- Incarnate Word Takes Final Tournament Game

The Golden Eagle Volleyball team again started out strong in its final match of the St. Edward's Tournament. Like yesterday, team went up 2-0 early but stumbled, dropping the next three matches and falling 3-2 to finish the weekend 2-1 overall. Highlights- Four players again ended with double-digit kills. Joan Ebnet (19 kills), Allison Kluck (15 kills) and Jo Hejny and Erin Flynn (13 kills each). Jamie Woff had 45 assists and Laura Stotz had 13 assists. Allison Kluck was not nominated for the All-Tournament Team but she should have been. Kluck finished the tournament with 20.33 kills/game avg. and an attack percentage average of .338. The team travels to Bemidji State on Tuesday, October 12 to take on the "Beavers" in conference play. Volleyball returns home on October 22 & 23 to host SW-Minnesota State and Wayne State (NE).

(10/9/04)- UMC Beats Host St. Edward's University

The Golden Eagle Volleyball team picked up where they left off yesterday beating the tournament host college in five games. It was a nail-biter with the first two games going extra points with UMC coming out on top 31-29. UMC dropped games three and four to send the match to five games. UMC took game five 15-11 posting a team attack% of .348 to St. Edward's .087. No game was decided by more than six points. Highlights- Four players again ended the match with double-digit kills. Allison Kluck had a career high 26 kills and a .340 attack% (26K-8E-53TA) in the match. Jo Hejny (16 kills), Joan Ebnet (13 kills) and Erin Flynn (11 kills). Jamie Wolff had 62 total assists and the team ended with 93 total defensive digs. Katie Jeremiason set a UMC single game record in digs with 33, Joan Ebnet finished with 30 digs and Lisa Gregoire had 10 digs for the match. UMC is now 9-12 overall and 2-5 in the conference. They will take on Incarnate Word tomorrow in the final game of the St. Edward's Tournament.

(10/8/04)- Golden Eagles Take First Game in Austin

After a couple of flight delays, changes and re-routes, the Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team finally arrived in Austin, TX to take part in the St. Edward's Tournament. The team didn't show any signs of jet-lag posting a .536 attack% in the first game as they went on to beat Bentley College 3-1. The team finished with a .277 attack%, 87 defensive digs and eight service aces. Highlights- Four players ended with double-digit kills. Allison Kluck (20 kills and a .410 attack%, 20K-4E-39TA), Joan Ebnet (19 kills), Jo Hejny (13 kills) and Erin Flynn (11 kills). Five players had double digit defensive digs. Joan Ebnet (21 digs), Katie Jeremiason (16 digs), Jo Hejny and Jamie Wolff (13 digs) and Liza Winkler (11 digs). Setter Jamie Wolff finished the match with 50 assists. The team is now 8-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play. UMC will face St. Edward's University tomorrow.

(10/5/04)- Golden Eagles Drown the Beavers

The Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball team defeated Bemidji State University tonight 3-1 at Lysaker Gymnasium. The first three games were played evenly with the largest margin of victory only six points. However, the Golden Eagle offense that started the season 5-2 showed up in game four to dominate the Beavers 30-12 to solidify the UMC victory. UMC's Katie Jeremiason set the tempo in the final game by serving for 10 of the first 11 Golden Eagle points. Highlights- Erin Flynn played outstanding, finishing the match with a team leading 18 kills. Setter, Jamie Wolff finished the match with 47 assists for UMC and Liza Winkler's knuckle-ball serve netted her a match high four service aces. The UMC Women's Volleyball team now travels to the St. Edward's Tournament in Austin, TX. The team returns home on October 22 & 23 to host SW-Minnesota State and Wayne State. The team is now 6-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play this season.

(10/2/04)- Golden Eagles Battle, Come Up Short vs. SW Minnesota State

For the second day in a row, the Golden Eagle Volleyball team has battled down to the wire but come up short. UMC lost to SW Minnesota State 3-2 with no margin of victory greater than eight points. UMC dropped the first game, but rallied to win games two and three. However, the offense of Erin Contons and Megan Wendorff was too much for the Golden Eagles who dropped games four and five. UMC is now 6-12 overall and 1-5 in the NSIC. SW Minnesota State is 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference. UMC takes on Bemdji State on Tuesday, October 5th at Lysaker Gymnasium on the UMC campus. Highlights- Joan Ebnet finished with 20 kills. Erin Flynn finished with 14 kills and Allison Kluck finished with 11 kills for the game. Jamie Wolff finished with 47 assist. Erin Contons finished with 26 kills for SWMSU. Megan Wendorff finished with 21 kills and Krystie Kaukola finished with 64 total assists.

(10/1/04)- Wayne State Defeats UMC 3-1

UMC and Wayne State battled for four matches with none being decided by more than four points. Wayne State eventually prevailed 3-1. Wayne State is 10-9 overall and 3-2 in NSIC play. UMC is 6-11 overall and 1-4 in conference matches. Highlights- UMC's Joan Ebnet lead all attackers with 18 kills. Erin Flynn finished with 12 kills, Allison Kluck and Jo Hejny both finished with 10 kills each. Jamie Wolff finished the game with 44 assists. Wayne State's Chelse Schultz had 17 kills and Julie Jacobson finished the game with 51 total assists. UMC faces Southwest Minnesota State tomorrow in Marshall, MN.

(9/28/04)- Huskies Beat Golden Eagles Again

The St. Cloud State Huskies beat the Golden Eagles 3-0 for the second time this season. UMC finally got the offense going in the third game with a .282 attack percentage but it was too late for a comeback. Joan Ebnet had 10 kills for the Golden Eagles. Jamie Wolff finished the game with 31 assists. SCSU is 11-5 and UMC is now 6-10 on the season. The Golden Eagles face Wayne State (NE) on Saturday (10/1) and Southwest State on Sunday (10/2) in Conference play.

(9/25/04)- Golden Eagles Downed By Top Ranked Dragons

MSU-Moorhead's team depth and athletic ability were too much for the UMC Women's Volleyball Team. MSUM defeated the UMC Golden Eagles 3-0 at Lysaker Gymnasium on the UMC Campus this afternoon. UMC is now 6-9 on the season and 1-3 in NSIC Conference play. The Dragons are 16-0 overall and ranked #1 at 4-0 in the NSIC. Neither team could sustain a consistent offensive attack. MSUM finished with a team attack percentage of .133 (36K-21E-113TA). UMC finished with an attack percentage of .014 (31K-29E-138TA). UMC Highlights - Allison Kluck finished the game with 9 kills. Laura Stotz had 15 assists after Jamie Wolff went down with a knee injury. Joan Ebnet finished the game with 14 defensive digs. UMC volleyball travels to St. Cloud on Tuesday to face the Huskies. The Golden Eagles are looking for revenge after losing to the Huskies earlier this year at the Northern Extreme Volleyball Tournament held at the University of North Dakota.

(9/24/04)- Golden Eagle Volleyball Ends Losing Streak

The Golden Eagle Women's Volleyball Team ended its seven game losing streak, beating the Northern State University Wolves 3-0. The offense showed up and delivered, three players had double-digit kills and the team had a total of 54 kills for the game. The team also had an unfamiliar statistic; UMC finished the game with fewer than 20 attack errors for the first time since September 4, when they had only 14 against Northern Michigan. Highlights- Erin Flynn and Joan Ebnet had 13 kills a piece, Jo Hejny finished with 10 kills for the game. Jamie Wolff had 40 assists for the game. Joan Ebnet and Katie Jeremiason both had 18 defensive digs. Ebnet also finished the game with four service aces. The Golden Eagles face #1 ranked MSU-Moorhead tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium. UMC is now 1-2 in NSIC play and 6-8 overall.

(9/18/04) - #2 Concordia-St.Paul Defeats UMC

Concordia-St. Paul showed why the team is ranked #2 in the NSIC, beating the Golden Eagles in 3 games (20-30, 21-30, 18-30). Concordia is now 11-1 on the season, UMC is 5-8. Highlights - Joan Ebnet (14 kills), Jamie Wolff (26 assists), Cailin Terhaar (CSP, 41 Assists). UMC volleyball faces Northern State next Friday at Lysaker Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The team then faces #1 ranked MSU-Moorhead on Saturday at 4 p.m. at UMC.

(9/17/04) - Golden Eagles Open Conference Play with a Loss to Winona

Even with five games played, neither team could find a consistent offense. Winona finished the game with a team attack percentage of .177 and UMC finished with a .163 attack percentage. Ball control was also a problem, Winona had eight ball handling errors and UMC finished the game with 10. Highlights - The team finished the game with six service aces. Erin Flynn lead the Golden Eagles with 22 kills, Joan Ebnet had 16 kills for the game. Jamie Wolff once again outset the opposing team. She finished with 59 assists to Winona's 48 team total.

(9/11/04) - Attack Errors Continue to Frustrate Golden Eagle Volleyball Team

For the second game in a row, the UMC Volleyball team committed 25 attack errors and had a match with only a .085 attack percentage. Another trend has also become evident. After losing the first match the Golden Eagles are 1-6 on the season. The only win coming against UND. Also, after losing the first match, the team has lost to its opponents 3-0. Highlights - UMC had four players with double-digit kills. Erin Flynn and Joan Ebnet (12 kills each), Jo Hejny (11 kills) and Allison Kluck (10 kills). The Golden Eagles look to rebound next weekend. The team hosts Winona State on September 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lysaker Gymnasium on the UMC Campus.

(9/11/04) - UMC Drops Second Game of North Central Region Challenge

Attack errors were the achilles heel for the Golden Eagles. UMC had 25 errors and a .171 attack percentage, including a .085 attack percentage in match 2. South Dakota capitalized on UMC's errors with a .293 attack percentage for the game. Highlights - Three UMC players had double digit kills. Jo Hejny (15 kills), Erin Flynn (11 kills) and Joan Ebnet (10 kills). The Golden Eagles take on Minnesota State-Mankato at 4 p.m. today.

(9/10/04) - Golden Eagles Fall to #7 MN-Duluth

UMC began the North Cental Region Challenge in Aberdeen, SD, against one of the best vollyeball teams in the NCC. The Bulldog's had 53 kills to UMC's 33 kills. UMD finished the tournament 3-0 and didn't lose a single match. Highlights - Joan Ebnet (11 kills), Erin Flynn (8 kills), Jamie Wolff (26 assists). The Golden Eagles now face South Dakota at noon and Minnesota State-Mankato at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

(9/4/04) - Wildcats Knock Off Golden Eagles, Continue Streak

The Wildcats of Northern Michigan didn't let UMC's two game win streak spoil their fun. NMU has now won 27 regular season matches in a row and is 4-0 on the year. Jennie Little and Andrea Smith had a combined 30 kills for the Wildcats. For UMC, Jamie Wolff had 31 assists and Laura Stotz had 4 service aces. The Golden Eagles travel to Aberdeen, SD next weekend to play in the North Central Region Challenge. UMC will face Minnesota-Duluth on September 10th and South Dakota and Minnesota State-Mankato on the 11th. Highlights - Allison Kluck became only the second volleyball player in UMC history to reach the 1,000 kill milestone. She joined the elite club on September 4th against Northern Michigan. (9/3/04) - UMC Wins First Game in Marquette, MI

After one of the schools biggest wins in volleyball, the Golden Eagles looked to keep their outstanding play alive. In the first game of two in Michigan, UMC defeated Michigan Tech 3-1. Highlights - Joan Ebnet (12 kills), Jamie Wolff (39 assists) and Katie Jeremiason (17 digs). The team plays Northern Michigan tomorrow to finish off the weekend.

(8/31/04) - Golden Eagles Beat UND for the First Time Ever

The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Volleyball Team defeated the University of North Dakota for the first time in school history. UND won the first match 30-26 but UMC battled back. The second game saw a tight match with several lead changes and outstanding volleys. The Golden Eagles finally prevailed 30-28. The third and fourth games showcased the power of the Golden Eagle offense as UMC won both matches 30-21.
Highlights: Jamie Wolff, who set the school career assists record last weekend out assisted the entire UND team 60-37. Erin Flynn had a sensational performance posting 17 kills to lead the Golden Eagles. The team is now 4-2 on the season.
UMC Volleyball travels to Marquette, MI this weekend to take on Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan.

(8/28/04) - UMC Drops Final Game to Coyotes

The Golden Eagle Volleyball team played better after suffering the teams first loss of the season, but still couldn't hold off the offense of the USD Coyotes. USD won the game 3-0. Highlights - Joan Ebnet (Jr-Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Jamie Wolff (Sr - Rosemount, Minn.) were named to the All-Tournament Team. UMC was the only team of the eight competing to have multiple players named to the All-Tournament team.

(8/28/04) - Volleyball Suffers First Loss of Season

The Huskies from St. Cloud State got the best of the Golden Eagles handing the team its first loss of the season 3-0. The team couldn't sustain much of an offensive attack today and finished with an attack% of only .092. The defense also allowed nine Husky service aces in the game. UMC plays South Dakota in the teams final game of the Northern Extreme Volleyball Tournament.

(8/27/04) - UMC Defeats Chadron State 3-1

In game two of the day, UMC kept its win streak alive by defeating Chadron State 3-1. UMC finished with a team attack% of .301 to Chadron States .195. Highlights - Allison Kluck (21 kills), the team had a combined 10 service aces. Jamie Wolff out assisted the entire Chadron State team 55-38 on her way to breaking the schools career assists record! Jamie now has over 3,650 career assists breaking the old record of 3,620 held by Jody Lundbohm, who played for UMC from 1996-1999. In the first game of the Northern Extreme Tournament held at UND the Golden Eagles defeated Colorado School of Mines 3-0. The UMC offense once again set the pace of the game. The Golden Eagle offense proved to be too much for the Upper Iowa Peacocks. After a close match in game one, UMC opened up with dominating performances in games two and three. The volleyball team travels to UND this weekend to play in the Northern Extreme Volleyball Tournament. They will face Colorado School of Mines and Chadron State on Friday and South Dakota and St. Cloud State on Saturday.
