(Crookston, Minn.)- Everyone is invited to attend the 1st Annual 5k Golden Eagle Run/Walk, Saturday August 29th, 2009 on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus. The event will begin at 10:00 am, with registration beginning at 9:00 am. Participants may retrieve a registration form online at goldeneaglesports.com or at the UMC Athletic Department. There is no pre-registration required, participants may come out on August 29th and run and the event is FREE to all participants. The first 200 participants will receive a FREE water bottle. Everyone who runs in this event will be entered for prize give-aways at half-time of the UMC Golden Eagle Football game on Saturday, August 29th. The prizes range from an iPod to apparel to gift certificates. All participants in the 5k Golden Eagle Run/Walk will be admitted into the UMC football game that day free of charge.

The 5k Golden Eagle Run/Walk is sponsored by the NCAA CHOICES grant and a kick-off to the 2009-2010 Golden Eagle athletic season. There will be many events to follow the run on Saturday. There will be a UMC Teambackers tailgate with "Four Wheel Drive" playing until kick-off of the UMC Football game against Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 pm at Ed Widseth Field.
