Golden Eagle Tennis Squad Opens 2011 Season on the Road

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Tennis squad opens the 2011 season with three road matches on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5 in St. Peter, Minn. The Golden Eagles will face Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Northern State University in a non-conference match on Friday at 6:30 p.m. U of M, Crookston will face Minnesota State University in an NSIC match at 9:30 am on Saturday and Bethany Lutheran College in a non-conference match at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles have eight players including three returning players. They finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 0-15 and NSIC record of 0-10. Head Coach Josh Lunak opens his fourth season at the helm.

Golden Eagles vs. Northern State University Friday, February 4   6:30 p.m.

The Wolves finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 2-12 and NSIC record of 1-9.

Golden Eagles vs. Minnesota State University Saturday, February 5   9:30 a.m.

The Mavericks finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 12-12 and NSIC record of 6-4.

Golden Eagles vs. Bethany Lutheran College Saturday, February 5   1 p.m.

The Vikings finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 3-14 and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) record of 2-4

(Crookston, Minn.) - The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Women's Tennis program announced today the signing of Katelyn Johnson from Monticello, Minn. to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Golden Eagles during the 2011 season.

Johnson is from Monticello High School of the Mississippi 8 Conference. She was named all-conference, all-conference honorable mention, team captain and also lettered her sophomore through her senior years.

Johnson plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is the daughter of Dan and Sherri Johnson.

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Tennis team returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play on Saturday, March 27 when they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to face Southwest Minnesota State University. Matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 0-13 and NSIC record of 0-8. They dropped four non-conference matches in Orlando, Fla. last week.

Southwest Minnesota State University has an overall record of 3-7 and NSIC record of 1-3 after dropping a 7-2 decision to St. Cloud State University but defeating Northern State University 9-0 this past Saturday.

U of M, Crookston will face William Smith College of New York on March16 at 9:30 a.m. They take on Concordia University of Wisconsin on March 17 at 5:30 p.m. On March 17, the Golden Eagles see action against Western New England College of Massachusetts at 10:30 a.m. They close out their trip on March 18 against Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 11:30 a.m. All times are Central Standard Time.
