(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5 when they travel to the University of Mary (U-Mary) and Northern State University (NSU) respectively. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. both nights.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 6-12 and NSIC record of 2-12 after dropping an 88-69 decision at Minnesota State University Moorhead on Saturday. Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) leads U of M, Crookston averaging 14.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) is averaging 12 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) is averaging 10.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Golden Eagles @ University of Mary  Friday, February 4   8 p.m.

The Marauders have an overall record of 15-4 and NSIC record of 11-4 after defeating Bemidji State University (71-60) and the University of Minnesota Duluth (82-72) on the road this past weekend. U-Mary is led by Anthony Moody who is averaging 20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Eric Erdmann is averaging 14.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Jordan Wilhelm is averaging 10.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. The Marauders defeated U of M, Crookston by a 71-55 score back on January 9.

Golden Eagles @ Northern State University Saturday, February 5   8 p.m.

The Wolves have an overall record of 9-10 and NSIC record of 5-10 after defeating the University of Minnesota Duluth (72-61) and Bemidji State University (84-82) on the road this past weekend. NSU is led by Colin Pryor who is averaging 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Dustin Tetzlaff is averaging 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds. David Lane is averaging 11.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Tom Parks is averaging 10.9 points per game. The Wolves defeated U of M, Crookston 75-65 back on January 8.

MSU Moorhead Downs U of M, Crookston Men

The Dragons shot 55.9% (19-34 from the field) in the first half to build their game-high 28 point lead. However, the Golden Eagles came out firing in the second half closing the gap to as low as nine points (66-57) with 11:12 remaining in the second half. U of M, Crookston outscored MSUM 46-37 in the second half but the Dragons pulled away down the stretch to capture the NSIC victory.

MSUM was led by Tarell Clark who scored 23 points (9-14 from the field) with seven rebounds and four assists. D.J. Hamilton scored 21 points (7-12 from the field) while Charlie Chapman added 16 points (5-11 from the field. Alex Novak scored 14 points (7-8 from the field) with 13 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) who scored a game-high 26 points (9-18 from the field) with four rebounds. Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) added 11 points (5-9 from the field).

The Dragons improve to 11-7 overall and 8-6 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston falls to 6-12 overall and 2-12 in the NSIC.

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston Athletic Department announced today that the Golden Eagle Women's and Men's Basketball games against Upper Iowa and Winona State on February 18 and 19 will be carried by Midco Sports Network (channel 27 in Crookston). Game times are scheduled for 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men on Friday and 4 p.m. for the women and 6 p.m. for the men on Saturday.

Golden Eagle fans are invited to wear maroon and gold and fill Lysaker Gymnasium to cheer for the Golden Eagles and for a chance to be on television. In addition, there will prizes and giveaways throughout the games and the Golden Eagle Softball team will host a chili feed on Friday, February 18 from 4:30-8 p.m. in the UMC Sports Center.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 6-11 and NSIC record of 2-11 after a pair of hard-fought losses to St. Cloud State University (62-50) and Concordia University, St. Paul (70-66). Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) had a solid weekend scoring 39 points and pulling down 19 rebounds. Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) leads U of M, Crookston averaging 14.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Brown is averaging 12.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Golden Bears Hang On for 70-66 Victory Over Golden Eagle Men

The game saw 14 lead changes and eight ties. The Golden Bears led by as many as 11 points.

For the second straight night, the Golden Eagles outshot their opponent (45.3% to 41.8%) and held them to under 50% from the field. However, CU would not go away as they took advantage of shooting 20-31 at the free-throw line to take the victory.

The Golden Bears were led by Peter Olafeso who scored 21 points (7-10 from the field) with ten rebounds and four steals. Brent Barz added 18 points (5-12 from the field and 8-12 from the free-throw line) with nine rebounds. Kenny Olafeso added 13 points (5-8 from the field).

U of M, Crookston was led by Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) for the second straight night. He scored 19 points (6-16 from the field) with seven rebounds and five assists. Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) added 12 points (6-12 from the field) with five rebounds and three assists. The Huskies led 24-20 at the intermission.

The Golden Eagles shot 50% in the first half and held SCSU to 30.4% from the floor. U of M, Crookston finished shooting 47.6% from the floor while the Huskies finished 38.3%. However, SCSU was 17-19 from the free-throw line while the Golden Eagles were only 6-11.

The Huskies were led by Taylor Witt who scored a game-high 26 points (7-16 from the field and 9-11 from the free-throw line). Bret Putz added 14 points (4-10 from the field) with five rebounds.

U of M, Crookston was led by Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) who scored 20 points (7-14 from the field) with a game-high 12 rebounds. Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) added 12 points (6-9 from the field).

Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) had an outstanding weekend scoring 51 points including 26 against Upper Iowa. Dearden leads U of M, Crookston averaging 15 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Taylor Witt is averaging 19.3 points and 4.1 points per game. Andrew Bernstetter is averaging 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Brett Putz is averaging 13.8 points per game.

However, the Peacocks tied the game with Trevor Hook's three-point shot with two seconds remaining before being outscored 14-7 in overtime as the Golden Eagles took a 73-66 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory tonight in Fayette, Iowa.

The Golden Eagles led 32-29 at the half by holding Upper Iowa to 25.9% shooting (7-27 from the field) and saw their lead increase to as many as 17 points in the second half before the Peacocks mounted a furious rally outscoring U of M, Crookston 36-27 while shooting 61.9% (13-21 from the field) to force overtime.

Matt Lesan led the Peacocks with 20 points (6-11 from the field). Dan Bestul added ten points (4-8 from the field) with seven rebounds while Sam Elgin added ten points (2-5 from the field) with four rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) and his second straight solid performance. He scored 26 points (7-19 from the field) including going 12-14 from the free-throw line. Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) added 20 points (7-12 from the field) with seven rebounds.

Second Half Surge Leads Winona State Men Over Golden Eagles

(Crookston, Minn.)- Winona State University exploded in the second half out-scoring the University of Minnesota, Crookston 63-27 to capture a 108-68 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory tonight in Winona, Minn. The halftime score was 45-41 in favor of the Warriors.

Winona State University had seven players hit double figures. They were led by Clayton Vette who scored 19 points (6-12 from the field). Jon Walburg added 15 points (5-11 from the field) with seven rebounds.

U of M, Crookston's Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) led all scorers with 25 points (9-13 from the field).

The Warriors improve to 12-2 overall and 8-2 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 5-9 overall and 1-9 in the NSIC.

Winona State University was ranked 24th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Men's Poll. They are led by Anthony Tucker who is averaging 17.5 points per game. Clayton Vette is averaging 13.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
