Huskies Pull Away from Golden Eagle Men Down the Stretch for 62-50 Victory

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for brown_larry_1011.jpghendricks_adam_1011.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- St. Cloud State University (SCSU) pulled away from the University of Minnesota, Crookston outscoring the Golden Eagles 38-30 in the second half to take a hard earned 62-50 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Men's Basketball victory tonight at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston, Minn. The Huskies led 24-20 at the intermission.

The Golden Eagles shot 50% in the first half and held SCSU to 30.4% from the floor. U of M, Crookston finished shooting 47.6% from the floor while the Huskies finished 38.3%. However, SCSU was 17-19 from the free-throw line while the Golden Eagles were only 6-11.

The Huskies were led by Taylor Witt who scored a game-high 26 points (7-16 from the field and 9-11 from the free-throw line). Bret Putz added 14 points (4-10 from the field) with five rebounds.

U of M, Crookston was led by Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) who scored 20 points (7-14 from the field) with a game-high 12 rebounds. Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) added 12 points (6-9 from the field).

SCSU improves to 9-7 overall and 8-4 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 6-10 overall and 2-10 in the NSIC.

U of M, Crookston returns to NSIC action on Saturday, January 22 when they host Concordia

University, St. Paul. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
