Dragons Top Golden Eagles 4-1 in Women's Soccer

gibeault_megan09.jpg sletten_ashley09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) scored two goals in each half and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston 4-1 today in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action in Moorhead, Minn.

The Dragons got on the board at 11:20 of the game when Jenna Reed scored off an assist from Katelin Roos. Reed made the score 2-0 at 23:33 when she scored off assists from Jordyn Wallenborn and Rachel Thompson. MSUM took a 3-0 lead at 47:36 when Alison Ramaeker scored an unassisted goal.

The Golden Eagles found the back of the net at 49:16 when Megan Gibeault (Jr, Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) scored off an assist from Ashley Sletten (Fr, Fwd, Glenwood, Minn.). MSUM scored the final goal of the game at 79:11 when Ramaeker scored her second unassisted goal of the game to make the final score 4-1.

Carmen Sanchez (Fr, GK, Naples, Fla.) recorded 13 saves for U of M, Crookston while Alison Wanner stopped five shots for the Dragons.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 2-11-2 overall and 0-8-1 in the NSIC. MSUM improves to 5-8-1 overall and 2-7-0 overall.

The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 when they travel to Wayne State College and Augustana College respectively. Saturday's match will start at 11 a.m. while Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m.
