(Aberdeen, S.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Volleyball team closed out the weekend road trip with a visit to Northern State University. The Golden Eagles took the first set but the Wolves rallied to win the next three to take the match 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17).
Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles with an exceptional offensive night. She led all players with 21 kills and a .312 (21K-6E-48TA) attack percentage. Meyer also led the team with two total blocks and 23 points. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-6, JR, Peoria, Ariz.) tallied 43 assists on the 48 Golden Eagle team kills. Ashley Allen (OH, 5-11, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) had another solid night defensively with a team high 19 defensive digs and earned a match-high four service aces.
Northern State was led by Kayla Ysteboe, Kelsey Aden and Jordan Schaffer who finished with 12 kills each. Megan Gilbraith led all players with 49 assists and had two service aces. Stephanie Drake led all players with 21 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles are 5-22 overall and 2-13 in the NSIC while the Wolves advance to 11-14 overall and 6-10 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston is back on the road on November 6 and 7 as they play Concordia- St. Paul and St. Cloud State. Match times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
