(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston's Sport and Recreation Management Association (SRM) announced today it will be hosting the first annual "White Out" women's and men's basketball games on Friday, December 11 beginning at 6 p.m. The Golden Eagles host the Golden Bears of Concordia- St. Paul in the NSIC home-opener.
The "White Out" event will be filled with prizes and entertainment. All fans are encouraged to wear a white t-shirt to the games to fill up Lysaker Gymnasium. If a fan doesn't have a white t-shirt, one can be purchased at the door for $5. All fans in white t-shirts are eligible to receive a raffle ticket that enters them for a chance to walk away with great prizes given away throughout the evening. The prizes include: UMC apparel, Minnesota Wild tickets, Minnesota Wild gift basket, and a free month membership and a free month of tanning to Anytime Fitness. Drawings for the prizes will be held at the halftime of the women's game and the start, halftime, and at the conclusion of the men's game.
Besides a raffle, halftime entertainment will be provided by the Crookston Youth Basketball Association (CYBA). The young hoopsters will put on an exhibition game during the halftime of the women's game. A 50/50 drawing will take place during the halftime of the men's game. Two tickets will be drawn and the ticket holders will need to make a half-court shot to claim their prize.
A clothing and shoe drive will also be held on December 11. All of the donations will be given to the local Care and Share of Crookston. Any fan that brings in gently used clothing or shoes will receive half priced admission and a free popcorn or candy from the concession stand.
