Amber Meyer (Paxton, Neb.) Earns NSIC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Thumbnail image for meyer_amber09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) announced today that Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) has been recognized as the conference Offensive Player of the Week for her conference-leading performances in NSIC play last week.

Meyer finished the U-Mary match with 18 kills and a .371 (18K-5E-35TA) attack percentage to go along with a team-high three block assists. Against MSU Moorhead, Meyer led the way again recording a match-high 18 kills and a team-high .385 (18K-3E-39TA) attack percentage. Her attack percentage against the Dragons was her second highest this season behind a .714 attack percentage against Quincy on September 11. In total, Meyer tallied 36 kills (5.14 k/s) and earned a team high .378 (36K-8E-74TA) attack percentage in seven sets. At the net she recorded five block assists in two matches. Meyer led all NSIC players this week in kills per set (5.14) and points per set (5.79).

meyerattack09.jpgMeyer is majoring in hotel, restaurant and institutional management at U of M, Crookston. She is the daughter of Martin and Deb Meyer.

The U of M, Crookston Volleyball team hosts a pair of NSIC contests this Friday and Saturday. The Golden Eagles take on Upper Iowa on October 23 and Winona State on October 24. Game times are set for 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
