(Wayne, Neb.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team continued with their rigorous schedule of playing nationally ranked teams as they traveled to Wayne, Neb. to take on the #19 ranked Wildcats. The Wayne State hospitality was short as they defeated the Golden Eagles 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-13).
Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles and all attackers with a match-high nine kills. She also tallied two block assists at the net. Ashley Allen (OH, 5-11, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) followed Meyer with eight kills. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-6, JR, Peoria, Ariz.) tied a match-high with 26 assists and played strong defensively with seven digs. Libero Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, SR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) led UMC with eight defensive digs.
Wayne State was led by Jennifer Hefner who tallied eight kills and a .438 (8K-1E-16TA) attack percentage. Setter Diedra Artz assisted on 26 Wildcat kills.
The Golden Eagles are 3-17 overall and 0-8 in the NSIC while the Wildcats move to 18-4 overall and 6-2 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston travels to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the Augustana Vikings on Saturday, October 10. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
