Mustangs Down Golden Eagles 2-0 in NSIC Women's Soccer Action

(Crookston, Minn.)- Courtney McCarthy scored both goals for Southwest Minnesota State University as the Mustangs downed the University of Minnesota, Crookston 2-0 today in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action at the UMC Soccer Field.

McCarthy scored her first goal at 12:37 off an assist from Tatum Borstad. Her second goal put a tight game out of reach as it came at 81:08 off an assist from Heather Anderson.

Anna Ogaard (Jr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) recorded six saves for the Golden Eagles while Kendra Olchefske recorded 10 saves for the Mustangs.

Southwest Minnesota State University improves to 2-13-0 overall and 2-10-0 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston falls to 2-14-2 overall and 0-11-1 in the NSIC.

The Golden Eagles will close out the 2009 season on Sunday, November 1 against Minnesota State University, Mankato. Action will get underway at 1 p.m. at the UMC Soccer Field.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston will see seniors Megan Hannon (Sr, Mid, Green Bay, Wis.), Justine Jones (Sr, Fwd, Richland, Wash.) and Athena Mussenden (Sr, Fwd, Kenosha, Wis.) play in their final games for the Golden Eagles.
