University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer Team Closes Out Season at Home this Weekend

seniors_09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team will close out the 2009 season at home this weekend with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) contests. The Golden Eagles will face Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday, October 31 and Minnesota State University, Mankato on Sunday, November 1. Both matches will start at 1 p.m. at the UMC Soccer Field with the game against Minnesota State University, Mankato serving as senior day.

The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 2-13-2 and NSIC record of 0-10-1 after dropping a pair of 2-1 contests this past weekend at Wayne State College and at Augustana College. U of M, Crookston is led by Megan Gibeault (Jr, Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) who has scored three goals and added three assists for nine points. Justine Jones (Sr, Fwd, Richland, Wash.) has scored four goals for eight points. Kaitlyn Ostergren (Fr, Mid, Lino Lakes, Minn.) has scored three goals for six points. Anna Ogaard (Jr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) has a 2.20 goals against average and a .788 saves percentage.

On Sunday, the Golden Eagles will honor three seniors for their contributions to the soccer program. They are Megan Hannon (Sr, Mid, Green Bay, Wis.), Justine Jones (Sr, Fwd, Richland, Wash.) and Athena Mussenden (Sr, Fwd, Kenosha, Wis.).

Golden Eagles vs. Southwest Minnesota State   Saturday, October 31  1 p.m.

The Mustangs have an overall record of 1-13-0 and NSIC record of 1-10-0 after dropping a 3-0 decision to Upper Iowa University and a 1-0 decision to Winona State University. They are led by Kelly Fitzgerald who has scored two goals for four points. Kendra Olchefske has a 2.37 goals against average and a .766 saves percentage.

Golden Eagles vs. Minnesota State University, Mankato Sunday, November 1  1 p.m.

The Mavericks have an overall record of 11-3-1 and NSIC record of 7-3-1 after dropping a 4-2 decision to Winona State University and defeating Upper Iowa University 2-0. They are led by Laura Leber has score nine goals and added one assist for 19 points. Gina Paletta has scored five goals and added six assists for 16 points. Shelia Reynolds has a 0.60 goals against average and a .868 saves percentage.
