Augustana College Nips Golden Eagles 2-1 in Women's Soccer

ostergren_kaitlyn09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston put forth another solid effort today. However, Augustana College broke a 1-1 tie at 62:41 to defeat the Golden Eagles 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Vikings got on the board first at 39:37 when Katie Shandri scored off an assist from Stephanie Goos to make the score 1-0. The University of Minnesota, Crookston tied the score at 43:21 when Kaitlyn Ostergren (Fr, Mid, Lino Lakes, Minn.) scored an unassisted goal to knot things up at 1-1. However, Augustana College took home the 2-1 victory at 62:41 when Shandri scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Stacy Dally.

Augustana's Amanda Wagner played the second half and recorded two saves after replacing . Anna Ogaard (Jr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) recorded nine saves for the Golden Eagles.

Augustana College improves to 7-6-5 overall and 4-3-4 in the NSIC. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 2-13-2 overall and 0-10-1 in the NSIC.

The Golden Eagles will close out the 2009 season with a pair of home NSIC contests on Saturday, October 31 against Southwest Minnesota State University and Sunday, November 1 against Minnesota State University, Mankato. Both matches will begin at 1 p.m. at the UMC Soccer Field.
