Golden Eagle Men's Basketball Team Set to Take Part in 2009 NSIC Holiday Hoopsfest

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team will return to action on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 23 when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take part in the 2009 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Holiday Hoopsfest. The Golden Eagles will face Winona State University on Saturday and Northern State University on Sunday in a pair of non-conference games. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. each day at the Elmen Center.

The Golden Eagles are 2-0 on the season after a pair of non-conference victories over the University of Minnesota Morris (85-80) and Jamestown College (75-69) this past weekend. U of M, Crookston is led by Akeem Cubie (Jr, G, Minneapolis, Minn.) who is averaging 22 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Damarius Cruz (Fr, G, Plymouth, Minn.) is averaging 20.5 points per game. Matthew Heier (Sr, G, Ray, N.D.) is averaging 11.5 points and three rebounds per game.

Golden Eagles vs. Winona State University  Saturday, November 28  2 p.m.

The Warriors have an overall record of 3-0 after winning the Merchants Classic in Winona, Minn. They are led by David Johnson who is averaging 20 points per game. Jon Walburg is averaging 14 points and five rebounds per game.

Golden Eagles vs. Northern State University  Sunday, November 29  2 p.m.

The Wolves have an overall record of 3-0. They are led by Brett Newton who is averaging 25.7 points per game. Colin Pryor is averaging 21 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Mitch Boeck is averaging 21 points per game.
