Golden Eagle Women's Basketball Continues NSIC Play at Home This Weekend

WhiteOutNight.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team went 1-1 to open NSIC play last weekend. Minnesota, Crookston fell to Minnesota Duluth 83-75 in an overtime game and continued the strong play into Saturday when they defeated Bemidji State University 92-88. The Golden Eagles are now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. UMC was led by Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who averaged 20 points/game and 37 minutes/game. She led the squad with 22 field-goals made and five steals. Zelinsky is averaging 15.3 points/game on the season and leads the team in field-goals made. Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, JR, Northfield, Minn.) averaged 19 points/game with a season-high 26 points scored in the victory over Bemidji State.  She is averaging 14.4 points/game and leads the team in rebounding with 36 total boards.

Concordia University- St. Paul is led by Jineen Williams who is averaging 16.7 points/game. She leads the squad in assists with 19 and blocks with seven. Maurika Hickman is averaging 13.8 points/game and leads the Golden Bears with 29 free-throws made. Concordia University is 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC.

St. Cloud State University is led by Talisha Barlow who averages 18.4 points/game. She leads the Huskies with 28 free-throws made and 29 total rebounds. Nicole Anderson leads the team with 27 steals and 19 assists. The Huskies are 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC.

The Golden Eagles travel to Dickinson State on Sunday, December 20 for a non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. MST.
