Mayville State University Downs Golden Eagle Men 69-59

cruz_damarius_09.jpg hendricks_adam_09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- Mayville State University took a slim two-point lead at the half and outscored the University of Minnesota, Crookston 34-26 in the second half as the Comets downed the Golden Eagles 69-59 in a non-conference men's basketball game tonight at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston, Minn.

Mayville State University was led by Marcus Carson who scored 14 points (6-for-18). Alfonzo McNeal added 12 points (5-for-12) with five rebounds. Ross Aman scored nine points (2-for-5) and added ten rebounds.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston was led by Damarius Cruz (Fr, G, Plymouth, Minn.) who scored a game-high 24 points (7-for-15) with three rebounds and three steals. Adam Hendricks (Jr, F, Watertown, Minn.) scored 15 points (7-for-13) with eight rebounds. Darin Weeks (Jr, G/F, Green River, Wyo.) added six points (1-for-6) with ten rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were hindered at the charity stripe as they shot 18-for-31.

Mayville State University improves to 7-5 overall while the University of Minnesota, Crookston drops to 3-6. The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, December 20 when they travel to Dickinson State University for a non-conference contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST).
