Jamie Zelinsky Eclipses 1,000 Points in Her Golden Eagle Career

Thumbnail image for zelinsky_jamie09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston women's basketball player Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) tallied the 1,000th point of her Golden Eagle career on December 20 against Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D. Zelinsky will be recognized between the women's and men's games on Friday, February 12 against Minnesota Duluth. Game times are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. for the women followed by the men at 8:00 p.m. in Lysaker Gymnasium.
 
Zelinsky is the team's leading scorer this season with 285 points, a 16.8 points/game average. To date she has accumulated 1,143 points and trails only Karna Plaine (1,642) and Kari Score (1,243) in career points scored. The only other 1,000 point scorers in Golden Eagle Women's Basketball history are Steph Mayclin (1,089) and Jess Forsline (1,040).
 
The games on Friday, February 12 will be part of "Pink Zone" Hawaiian Night, an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. Game times are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. for the women and 8:00 p.m. for them men against Minnesota Duluth. The basketball games on Saturday, February 13 will feature the Champions Forever Spin-tacular Basketball show. Tip-off that afternoon is 4:00 p.m. for the women and 6:00 p.m. for the men against Bemidji State.
