Golden Eagles Close Out Season Against Dragons

Thumbnail image for vanackeren_kelsey09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team closed out the 2009-10 season this afternoon hosting MSU Moorhead. The Golden Eagle led by as many as eight in the first half but the Dragons took the lead back and extended it to as many as 13 before MSUM closed out the game with the 86-78 victory.
 
Minnesota, Crookston said goodbye to two seniors this afternoon. Kelsey Van Ackeren (G, 5-9, SR, St. Cloud, Minn.) scored 14 points in the game. She was 4 of 11 from the field, 2 of 6 from long range and a perfect 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Treasure Clemons (G, 5-3, SR, Minneapolis, Minn.) earned two points and one rebound in the contest. The Golden Eagles were led by Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, JR, Northfield, Minn.) who scored a team-high 23 points. She was 7 of 12 from the field, 4 of 5 from long range and 5 of 5 from the charity stripe. Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, FR, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with seven rebounds in the contest and added seven points.
 
clemons_treasure09.jpgMSU Moorhead was led Alison Nash-Gerlach who scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Meghan Rettke scored her 1,000th point as a Dragon on a 12 point night and grabbed a game-high 14 boards. Angie Jetvig added 14 points; she was followed by Kaycee Charette who tallied 13 points in the contest.
 
The Golden Eagles end the season at 10-17 overall and 7-13 in Northern Sun play while the Dragons advance to 18-9 overall and 12-8 in conference play.
