Golden Eagle Softball Hosts Six Home Games this Week

(Crookston, Minn.) - The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball team will play host to three double-headers this week at the UMC Softball Field. The Golden Eagles will play Bemidji State on Wednesday, March 31in a non-conference match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The team then opens the conference season on Friday, April 2 against Augustana College at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 3 against Wayne State College at noon.
 
Minnesota, Crookston is 3-7 on the season after a split with Bemidji on March 27. The team is led by Steph Thomas (P, 5-9, JR, St. Albert, Alberta) who is batting .444 (4-9) on the season with a double and a .556 slugging percentage. She is 2-1 in the circle on the season and has a 1.37 ERA in four appearances. She has one complete game shutout and has struck out 18 batters. Krystal Plouff (OF, 5-2, SO, Forest Lake, Minn.) is batting .344 (11-32) with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI.
 
Bemidji State: The Beavers are 2-11 overall this season. They are led by Stephanie Rossman who is batting .513 (20-39) on the season. She leads the team in runs scored (10), hits, doubles (4), homeruns (3) and RBI (17).
 
Augustana College: The Vikings are 16-5 overall on the season. The squad is led by Jenny Brown who is batting .422 (27-64) on the season with a .500 slugging percentage. She leads the team in total hits with 27. Kelsey Kalkman is batting .383 (23-60) on the season and leads Augustana with eight doubles.
 
Wayne State: The Wildcats are 15-3 on the season. The team is led by pitcher Katie Goetzinger who is 9-3 overall with a .87 ERA. She has struck out 97 batters while only walking 13 and holding opponents to a .149 batting average. Jennifer Radley leads the WSC offense with a .367 batting average (18-49). She leads the team in hits, homeruns (3) and is tied for the team lead with 14 RBI.
