(Duluth, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Duluth hosted the Golden Eagle Volleyball team on Friday, September 18 at Romano Gymnasium on the UMD campus. The Bulldogs used the home court advantage to take the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-11).
The Golden Eagles were led by Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) who recorded 10 kills in the match. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-6, JR, Peoria, Ariz.) tallied 13 assists while Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, SR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) led the team defensively with six defensive digs.
The Bulldogs were led by Alyssa Nelson's 13 kills and .632 (13K-1E-19TA) attack percentage. Eleena Lisakka assisted on 39 of UMD's 45 total kills. Defensively, Rachel Jacobson led all players with 13 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles are 3-11 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC while the Bulldogs advance to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. U of M, Crookston travels to Bemidji State on Saturday, September 19. First serve is set for 3 p.m. The Golden Eagles open the home conference season on Friday, September 25 when 2008 National Champion Concordia University- St. Paul comes to town. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
