(Moorhead, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston women's volleyball team traveled to Moorhead, Minn. on Tuesday, September 15 to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. The Golden Eagles attacked a season low .021 (17K-15E-97TA) while MSU Moorhead finished with a strong .270 (40K-13E-100TA) attack percentage to take the match 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-16).
Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagle attack with nine kills in the match. Her two service aces were also a team match high. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-6, JR, Peoria, Ariz.) assisted on 13 of the 17 Golden Eagle kills and recorded four digs. Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, SR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) led the team defensively with 12 defensive digs.
The Dragons were led by Kristen Kleven's match-high 10 kills and .500 (10K-2E-16TA) attack percentage. Leigh Splittstoesser paced the setters with 30 assists while Allie Knutsen led all defenders with 21 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles are 3-10 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC while the Dragons advance to 11-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. U of M, Crookston travels to Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State on Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19. First serve is set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles open the home conference season on Friday, September 25 when 2008 National Champion Concordia University- St. Paul comes to town. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
