(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 when they travel to Winona, Minn. and Fayette, Iowa to face Winona State University and Upper Iowa University respectively. Both matches will start at 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 2-3-1 after going 1-2-0 last week. NSIC foe Bemidji State University defeated U of M, Crookston 5-1 in non-conference action on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles shut out the University of Great Falls 3-0 on Saturday before falling 4-0 to Montana State University - Billings on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles are led by Justine Jones (Sr, Fwd, Richland Wash.) who has scored three goals for six points on the season. Megan Gibeault (Jr, Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) has scored one goal and added two assists for four points. Anna Ogaard (Fr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) is 2-3-1 in net with a 1.71 goals against average and .833 saves percentage.
Golden Eagles vs. Winona State University Saturday, September 19 1 p.m.
The Warriors have an overall record of 3-3-0 and NSIC record of 2-0-0 after defeating Southwest Minnesota State University 4-0 and Augustana College 2-0 this past weekend. Lauren Sturdivant has scored four goals and added one assist for nine points.
Golden Eagles vs. University of Upper Iowa Sunday, September 20 1 p.m.
The Peacocks have an overall record of 2-3-1 after defeating Mt. Mercy 1-0 on September 9. They will face Waldorf College on Wednesday before their NSIC opener against Minnesota State University Moorhead on Saturday. Upper Iowa University is led by Valeria Ptasinski and Shaina Marnell who each have scored two goals and added two assists for six points.
