(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team has played in three tight games to start the 2009 sesaon. The Golden Eagles were finally rewarded for their solid play as Justine Jones (Sr, Fwd, Richland, Wash.) scored an unassisted goal at 51:20 to give U of M, Crookston a 1-0 win over Northwestern College of Iowa today at the Dordt/Northwestern Pizza Ranch Classic in Orange City, Iowa. It was also the first win for new head coach Richard Jones.
Anna Ogaard (Jr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) continued her stellar play in net with four saves to secure the shutout.
The Golden Eagles improve to 1-1-1 on the season. They will host their home opener on Tuesday, September 8 at the UMC Soccer Field against Bemidji State University. Action will get underway at 4 p.m. It will be a non-conference match-up.
