(Crookston, Minn.) - The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Women's Tennis program announced today the signing of Amanda Pihlaja from Duluth, Minn., to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2010-11 season.
Pihlaja is 5'6 and from Duluth Central High School of the Lake Superior Conference. She played number one doubles for the Trojans as an eighth grader and served as team captain her sophomore through her senior years. Pihlaja was named first team all-conference as a junior and senior.
"We are really excited to have Amanda Pihlaja join the University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Tennis program," says Golden Eagle Women's Tennis Coach Josh Lunak. "She is the top player that we have brought in during my time here."
Pihlaja's major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston will be sport and recreation management. She is the daughter of Mike and Sheri Pihlaja.

All signees are contingent upon admission to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
